William Nash, born 1613 in England; died 1655 in Lancaster, Virginia. He married
6641. Ann Hopkins 1648 in Northumberland, Virginia.
6641. Ann Hopkins She was the daughter of 13282. Mr
Hopkins.
Notes for William Nash:
Records Descendants of William Nash from Ron Jones at
RJones6666@aol.com.
William was a passenger on the Ship Globe, reported in
"Original Lists of Persons of Quality" by Hotten as sailing 7 Aug 1635 to
Virginia. He was reported to be 22 years old. From this we can determine he was
born in 1613 and in England.
Nothing further until 1653, when he was shown as a
commissioner of Northumberland Co, Va and received a grant of land for
transporting 14 persons to the colony. These included himself (twice) and his
wife Ann. Because of the ages of the children reported in a court document, he
and Ann must have been married by Dec 1648.
26 Feb 1653/54, p 22 states, "
According to sufficent proofs ... there is due Mr Wm Nash 700 acres of land for
transportation of these persons following into this colony". The list starts
with "Himselfe twice", then "Ann, his wife" and 11 more persons.
WILLIAM was a member of the Commissioners Court and so
his name was entered in the Court Record Book on each meeting date. He was alive
in Aug, but an order to the Executor of his Will was issued in Nov. So he died
between the Aug 1655 meeting and the 20 Nov 1655 meeting.
--Name of William's wife - A deposition of a Mr.
Thomas Hopkins was recorded 20 May 1656 in Lancaster Co. Va. where he gave a cow
& a calf to his nephew Thomas Nash who he said was the son of William Nash and
my Sister Ann.
So William's wife was Ann
Hopkins.
-- Birthdates of the 3 sons of
William & Ann: A deposition by one John Mallet, recorded 20 Apr. 1656 - gives
the dates each son reaching age 17 & receiving the legacy from the will of their
father.
John Mallet had married Ann
(Hopkins) Nash and was thus responsible for their the children.
Thomas Nash - Born 27 Sep 1649 - Northumberland Co. Va
William Nash - Born 6 Aug 1651 - Lancaster Co. Va
John Nash - Born 20 Nov 1653 - Lancaster Co. Va
Notes for Ann Hopkins:
A deposition of a Thomas Hopkins was recorded 20 May
1656 in Lancaster Co, Va. where he gave a cow & a calf to his nephew, Thomas
Nash, who he said was the son of William Nash and my sister Ann...so William's
wife was Ann Hopkins and she had a brother Thomas Hopkins. William & Mary
Quarterly, vol XXV, p255.
In 1668, Lancaster Co deeds, p
48: John Meredith gave his sons-in-law, Thomas Nash and Will
Nash one man called Thomas Elston.
Ann had married John Meredith on 14 July 1657.

in Lancaster, Virginia; married Ann.
iii. John Nash, born November 20, 1653 in Lancaster, Virginia; died Abt. 1668 in
Lancaster, Virginia.
Notes for John Nash:
Given that John is not mentioned in the Meredith deed
of 1668 and the Toby Horton will of 1669 refers to him as "the youngest son,
decd", he probably died about 1668.

Dorothy MNU Byram Birth: ABT 1636 in
Northumberland County, VirginiaDeath: AFT 1671 in Lancaster County, Virginia
Who is Dorothy (MNU) Married Before 1670 to
Abraham Byram, John Meredith, & John Champion (and Others?)
I think it’s very possible that this Dorothy who married Byrum/Byram, Meredith,
and Champion probably was related to Dorothy Dameron (relict of Lawrence Dameron),
but doubt it was a mother/daughter relationship.
This leads to my questions. A patent to Peter Knight was granted to Lawrence
Dameron in 1655. Witnesses included Abraham Byrum/Byram (who later was
overseer of Lawrence Dameron’s will) and also a woman named Dorothy Giles.
· Who is this Dorothy Giles???
· Is it possible this Dorothy Giles is the same person who was later married to
Abraham Byrum/Byram, John Meredith, and finally to John Champion???
Also, what was the relationship, if any, of Dorothy Giles to Peter Knight one of
her sons by Abraham Byrum/Byram as being named Peter..perhaps in honor of Peter
Knight?)?
Further, could my Dorothy Dameron (wife of Lawrence) somehow be connected with
Peter Knight, which is why Peter Knight granted this land to her husband
Lawrence Dameron? Also, is Dorothy Dameron (wife of Lawrence) related to Dorothy
(Giles?) Bryam Meredith Champion .

Hod. Sir. Service to you & your Wife presented. These are to let you understand
that I am ELIAS EDMONDS his Last Will & Testament, Sole Overseer of his Estate &
see that his Children not be cheated nor defrauded of their Estate their Father
left them, yet JOHN MERIDITH & WALTER HEARD not giveing the Court inteligen ce
thereof as I hear obtained an Order for Administration of the Estate, nor I
haveing not any notise thereof saying that his Mother in Law, Mrs. EDMONDS, made
no Will, thereof the Court granted Letters of Administration (Now I can proved
but the Court is so remoat that I cannot bring witnesses) that Mrs. FRANCES
EDMONDS made a nun cupative Will which I know in Law is authentick besides there
are great debts claimed by some, namely Mr. MERIDITH out of the Estate p accompt
wch. I know is contrary to the Act of Assembly in such cases, yet
notwithstanding, if it be MERIDITHs right God forbid but he should have it, but
I can proved that the great accompt brought in against ELYAS his Estate did
nothing appertain to ELYAS nor ought not to be paid out of the sd Estate all
which I can prove & shall make appear at the next Court MERIDITH his pretence is
that I am a PAPIST and ought not to have the bringing up of the Children which
God knows was none of my intent but that some honest careful man shou'd breed
them up & not diminish the Estate which I am shure is a good Virginia Estate.
There is not all incerted in the Inventory besides the debts ought to be paid
before Legacies. It was Mr. EDMONDS wil & desire that his Estate should not be
administered on nor anyways alienated by appraisers, therefore I beseech you if
it be possible not to grant Letters of Administration until the next Court held
for this County for I conceave the Children to be in a desperate condition if
you let the sd MERIDITH & HEARD proceed in what they desire the Inventory is not
as yet proved nor the Will therefore good Sir. if it be possible grant a
reference of all business of that Estate to the next Court held at Majr. CARTERs
House where God willing I shall attend you God forbid but the wil of the deced
should be performed so neer as maybe they are to have all the increase of their
cattle both male & female you will say who will keep the Children upon those
terms, I answer I will find those that shall keep them and give them better
Education than those in whose custody they are I have that to show the Court
under Mr. EDMONDS his hand that the Court cloth not know of nor can yet conceave,
Therefore I desire that administration may be suspended and all businesses
