Myself in front of John Wesley Apple's tombstone (a
Military Stone) in the Liberty Church Cemetery in Sullivan County, Indiana.
John Wesley was in the Civil War like many of his Apple Cousins. He
fought in the 38th Indiana Voluntary Infantry, Union and survived the war.
He named one of his sons John "Sherman" Apple as he marched with Sherman to
Atlanta and then to the sea. The Apple's were from Germany, coming to
this country in the early 1700's landing in Pennsylvania and migrating to
North Carolina and finally on to southern Indiana where this author was
born. See more
on my Apple line back to the 1600's in Germany here.
