My Maternal Lineage 7 Generations ~ 

Mary Thixton was b. 1784 in Bullitt or Jefferson Co., KY (about 17 miles south of Louisville).  Mary's parents were John Thixton and Mary Unknown, she could be Mary Martin, but we are unsure of this.  When Mary Thixton was approximately 20 yrs old, in 1804, she married William Hall in Kentucky.  William and Mary moved from Kentucky to Indiana around 1818.  Mary died in Washington Co., IN in 1847 when she was about 63 yrs old and is buried in the Hall Cemetery, next to her husband William Hall, who died in 1838.  Mary Thixton and William Hall had five children, one being Nancy Hall.

Nancy Hall was b. circa 1805 in Kentucky and came to Indiana with her parents/siblings around 1818 when she was around 13 yrs old.   In 1824, when Nancy was 21 yrs old, she married Elisha Wood in Washington Co., IN.  Nancy died around 1848 when she was about 43 yrs old in Washington Co., IN, we don't know where she is buried, possibly in the Old Mill Christian Church which is no longer around.  She probably died from complications with child birth with her last daughter Elizabeth, but we are not sure about this.  Nancy Hall and Elisha Wood had six girls, one being Nancy Wood.

Nancy Wood was b. June 1, 1829 in Washington Co., IN and died in 1905 when she was 76 yrs old in Sullivan Co., IN.  Nancy Wood married Elias Bell in Washington Co., IN, circa 1851.  Nancy and Elias moved from Washington Co., IN west to Sullivan Co., IN sometime after their daughter Mary Molly Bell was born in 1860.  Nancy's father, Elisha Wood, also moved to Sullivan County, IN and remarried and died there.  We are not sure where he is buried, perhaps Liberty Church, where his daughter, Nancy is buried.  Nancy Wood and Elias Bell (buried at Liberty Church) had eight children, one being Mary “Mariah” Bell.  ~

Mary Mariah Bell was b. September 27, 1860 in Washington Co., IN.  Shortly after Mary was born, she and her parents/siblings moved west to Sullivan Co., IN.  In 1878 when Mary was 28 yrs old, she married George Apple.  Mary died in Sullivan Co., IN in 1940 when she was 80 yrs old.  Mary Bell and George Apple had five children, one being Nancy “Jennie” Apple.
 

Nancy Jane “Jennie” Apple was b. February 15, 1881 in Sullivan Co., IN, and died on October 6, 1958 in Prairie Creek Vigo Co., IN when she was 77 yrs old.  In 1899 when Jennie was 18 yrs old she married Erastus “Ray” Montague in Sullivan Co., IN.  Nancy and Ray had 8 children, her first born, Ivan, died at ten months, and she had one mis-carriage.  Her last child was Vivian Lucile Montague.

Vivian Lucile Montague was born Feb 27, 1915 in Sullivan Co., IN and died in the same county in 1973 when she was 58 yrs old.  In 1931 when she was 16 yrs old, she married William “Bill Ratcliffe”.  Lucile and Bill had two children, one being Barbara Lucile Ratcliffe.

Barbara Lucile Ratcliffe was born on August 28, 1934 in Sullivan Co., IN and died in same county in 1997 when she was 62 yrs old.  When Barbara was 27 yrs old in 1957, she married Wendall H. Smith.  Barbara Ratcliffe and Wendall Smith had four children, one being Catherine Sue Smith.
