Know ye, that I, Sam. Nicholson, am week in body but of parfect mind and
memory, thanks be to the Lord for it: Do make this my Last and Testiment,
Revoking all other Wills heretofore maid by me, first of all, I comit my Soul
unto the Lord and by body to the Earth from whence was, to be desently burad
after the discresion of my Executors hereafter named.
Saconly, my will is that my dear and well beloved wife, Elizabeth Nicholson,
Shall have the whole Use and Benifit of all my Lands and houses and plantation
during har life; and after har dises, my will and pleasure is that my daftor,
Elisabeth Anderson, shall have and injoy all my Lands, plantations houses and
profits, Shee and her Lawful hares for ever. Also i give to my Said daftor,
Elizabeth Anderson, a Negro woman caled bes.
I give to my daftor, Sarah Nicholson, one Neigro boy caled Sesor, during her
naturall Life, and at har dises, to fall to them of har kindred which she may
think fitest to Life with. I allso give to my Said Daftor, Sarah Nicholson, a
father bed and furniture.
I allso give to my Gran Children, forty shillings a pease, to be pid to my
Friend, Sarah Gloster, as much good fine Silk Crape as will make har a Suit of
Close, a pare of good Stays, three yards of muslin, a pare of worsted hoes, two
Yards of Holen, as much fine Garlick, as will make har a Shift.
And as for the Rest of my Estate of what Remains after Lagists and Just debts
are duly paid, I give to my Loveing Wife, Elizabeth Nicholson, to be at har
disposing. I also make and ordain my Loveing Wife, Elizabeth Nicholson, and my

This couple were ltm 1716,6,1. At the time mtg Elizabeth Pritloe & Leah
Pritloe were ltm William Elliott & Joseph Smith, respectively. Timothy
Clare & Samuel Nicholson were appointed to stay at John Pritloes the night after
the wedding to se that there be no disorders. The m record for Abrah Sanders
& Judah Pritloe gives the m date as 1716,6,6. The other two couples are
recorded as having been m 1716,6,16. In each of the three cert the satement is
made that m was on the fifth day of the week. It seems reasonably certain that
all three sisters were m on that day & that the recorder inacvertently
wrote 6th instead of 16th in the Sanders-Pritloe record.

m follows that of John Belman, 1687,8,19 and is followed by that of Gabriel
Newby, 1689,4,1. Samuel Nicholson & Elizabeth Charles declared their m
intentions the first time at a monthly mtg held the 7th day of 9th mo; the
second time at a QM held the lst day of 10th mo, yr not stated. MM were held on
the fourth day of the week -Qm on the seventh day of the week. The 7th day of
9th mo & the 1st day of 10th mo fell respectively on the 4th & 7th days
of the week in the year 1688.
In 1717 and 1718 Samuel Nicholson paid tax. He claimed in 1717 that he had 2
tithables and in 1718 he had 3 tithables. He paid tax on 350 acres both years.
He lived between Francis Layden and Harris Willobe. His nearest neighbors were
Francis Layden, Robert Wilson, Benjamin Sanders and John Anderson. And to the
other direction Harris Willobe, Jos: Sutton, Senr., Debro: Macklenden, Abra:
Jenit, William Wood, and Samuel Charles.

The Petition of Zachariah Nixson Senr. praying this Court to Appoint a guardian
to Thomas Peirce Orphan of John Pierce Deceased to take care of the said Orphan
and his Estate and to give sufficient security for the same. The Court having
fully understood the said Petition and duly Considered the same ordered that
the said Zachariah Nixson being the fitest person to be Guardian to the said

[Ref: History of Perquimans County] Ezekiel Maudlin, first in Perquimans, came
from London, according to family tradition. This name does not appear on any of
the records of the Lower counties in Virginia, neither do the Quaker records
show a person of this name. So the opinion is advanced, that he came straight
from England to Perquimans or landed first in New England, where he married
Hannah Nicholson (d of Christopher, and Hannah ___, b March 4, 1667). It is
positively known that Christopher Nicholson came to Perquimans from New
England, where he had already married Hannah Rednap. The name and ages of his
children are recorded in Berkeley Parish Register but his marriage is not
mentioned.

said Ezekiel, we do not see how he could have been one of his sons. He is
certainly given in Berkeley Parish Register, however, as "son of Ezekiel
and Hannah." Probably the 2nd Ezekiel and Hannah Toms)

Sarah b. Mar 20, 1741. Ezekiel Maudlin was "Overseer of the Roads" in
the district of John Perisho April 1740. The division of Ezekiel (2) Maudlin
Est, 1737, shows Hannah as his wife, sons Jeremiah, Joshua and Thomas.
Among Titables: May 25, 1743, Edward Modling, Edward Jr. William Modling, and
